London Olympic Games are
starting this summer and it is a good opportunity to introduce new vocabulary: Olympic sports, countries and nationalities…
You can design a lot of activities by means of the official Olympic Games website.
You may start reading a text using the classroom IWB, your laptop and a projector or you can print the text for your students.
After the reading you can start a discussion of the topic or ask your students
some questions.
You could complete the activity asking them to write about the same
topic they have read or some others related to the Olympic Games and its history, fair play, olympic torch and its history, etc.

You can find out two activities
about this topic here.

Well done! It's a good idea use London Olimpic games to introduce them in some real cases or give them an excuse to write and story.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you liked, I hoped you've enjoyed the activities as well.

Good idea! I really like the idea of using such a current topic for introducing the lesson. This way they will be motivated and ready to work! They will love talking about their favourite sports, likes and dislikes...
ReplyDeleteThey will also learn about London Olimpic Games and its history by practising the text.
I deeply think it is a really complete activity since students will be practising reading, speaking and writing skills. And, what's more important, in a real and current issue!
Hi Carmen! I agree with you, the students will feel encouraged with a real and current topic. Who don't like the Olimpic Games? =)
DeleteThanks for your comment Carmen.
Hello classmate!
ReplyDeleteI really like your theme: the olympic games.
I think it's a good idea to perform an activity on the Olympic Games, because this summer will take place in London.
It is important that children know they are the Olympic games, which are based, origin, etc.. Because then they will see on TV all that has been discussed previously in class and they will better understand the events.
I think it's important to do exercises that deal with real life.
Kinds regards,
Anna
Hello Anna!
DeleteI'm happy you liked that topic. I chose it because, as you say, deal with real life. That encourages more the students for taking part in the activities.

ReplyDeleteI like your blog, I like the colours and I find this activity fenomenal to practice with the students: reading, speaking, writting..., the topic is very cool and modern, which I think it is a plus in order to attract students attention.
Thanks!
